His Daughter Got The Best Room In The House
Mark made sure his daughter’s bedroom had the best window. It looked directly into the branches of the largest oak, where birds landed in the morning and sunlight moved through the leaves. The room was small, but he painted it in soft colors and built the bed high enough to create storage underneath. He wanted it to feel peaceful, not cramped.

He kept the smaller sleeping space for himself. His bed was in a loft above the kitchen, reached by a ladder and hidden behind a curtain when he wanted privacy. It was simple, but he did not complain. The whole house had been built with his daughter in mind. Every shelf, every window, every hook, and every drawer was planned around what would make her feel safe and comfortable.
