High Rate of Inbreeding
The marriage is not being intentionally done with the cousins but it is quite common to see in the Amish community. The risk is quite high because of the lesser population and there are not many people outside the family in the community. The communities are quite small and when it comes to marriage, it becomes harder for these people to find a match that’s not genetically related to them. This is the only and primary reason why there is such a high risk of inbreeding.
