Taking The Photographs
While Amish people do not have any issue with people taking photographs of them, they are prohibited from capturing themselves. The holy text Ordnung also restricts them in keeping the pictures at their home. Keeping the portraits in the house is strictly forbidden in Amish culture. The case is also the same with some other communities around the world. The reason that is said to be behind such restrictions is that people should not develop egoism and avoid vanity altogether.
