The Whole Row Went Quiet
The mother leaned forward, furious, and asked what was wrong with me. I turned around with a calm expression and apologized. I told her I had been startled by the kicking and accidentally spilled the water. The flight attendant came back to check what had happened, and I explained that everything was fine. The mother did not say much after that. She grabbed napkins, wiped herself off, and avoided looking at me.

The passengers nearby had clearly noticed the whole thing. Some looked away, pretending they had not seen it. Others gave the kind of tiny nod people give when they understand exactly what happened but do not want to get involved. The boy stayed silent, tucked his legs back, and did not kick again. For the first time since I sat down, there was peace behind me. I did not yell, threaten, or argue. I simply made the discomfort impossible for his mother to ignore.
