Steam And Electricity Powered (1700-1890)

The first cars ran on steam and electricity. However, it was only until the 1870s that steam power became available for small vehicles. In the early 1800s, inventors worldwide began manufacturing electric cars. Decades later, British and French inventors have created cars close to modern electric cars.
Within ten years, a third of all vehicles in the United States will be electric. Electric cars are popular because they are not as challenging to start as gas and steam combustion engines, and they do not require complex gear changes to operate. Like today, the first electric cars were silent and did not emit bad odors into the air.
At the same time, in 1898, Ferdinand Porsche did something revolutionary. He created the first hybrid car that runs on electricity and natural gas. This is a hybrid car project built over 100 years later.

Gasoline-Powered Automobiles (1890s to 1930s).

Although some of the earliest automobiles were powered by steam engines dating back to the 1700s, Karl Benz invented the first gasoline-powered automobile in 1885, which he later patented in 1886. It has three wheels and looks like an elongated two-person tricycle. . Later, in 1891, gasoline-powered four-wheelers appeared. The invention of gasoline-powered automobiles laid the foundation for the development of American automobiles. We can say that the first car with a gasoline engine Karl Benz became the primary catalyst for modern vehicles. Many automakers followed in his footsteps and tried to create their versions of cars. At that time, electric cars were becoming the norm. But there was a problem with the first electric vehicles. People are interested in owning them, but these sophisticated cars are too expensive for the middle class.
It wasn’t until Henry Ford created the Model T in 1908 that cars began to resemble those we are familiar with today. Since Ford invented the assembly line, Model T gasoline vehicles can be mass produced and made available to the general public.

Focus On Vehicle Function (1930 to present)

With mass production, new features emerged, including speedometers, seat belts, windshields, and rear-view mirrors. Believe it or not, Buick didn’t install the first turn signal in a car until 1939 – that is, after the first car with power windows and air conditioning. Additional features like hydraulic boosters, cruise control, three-point seat belts, and hot seats were added to vehicles.
In 1973, Oldsmobile installed the first passenger airbag in its tornado model. In 1998, more than 20 years later, the federal government required that all passenger cars be equipped with two front airbags as standard.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, keyless entry systems, power doors and windows, skylights, and CD players became standard features. This is when technology becomes a significant selling point.

Characteristics Of a Modern car

This brings us to modern cars equipped with Bluetooth, hard drives, advanced security systems, GPS, Wi-Fi, and even automatic parallel parking. It sounds crazy, but it’s true. During this period, cars that were once considered luxury became a standard feature. Driverless vehicles that once looked like things from sci-fi movies are about to become a reality. It’s incredible to think how far the car has come and where the technology will go.
With the advancement in technology, it is more important than ever to keep up with your driving skills on the road to ensure the safety of those around you at all times.
